Item Aliases

  1. From the Master Menu, click Databases and select Item Alias. The Item Alias dialog box opens.

Note: You can also click in the Item Database to access the Item Alias dialog box.

  1. Click the Print option under Alias Types.

  2. Click graphics\ADD_A_RECORD16.gif. The Item Query dialog box opens.

  3. Select the item for which to add a Print alias. The Adding Item Alias dialog box opens and displays PRINT in the Customer ID box and a blank Name box along with the Item Number, Company and Description for the item you select. The Alias box is highlighted.

  4. Type the Print alias in the Alias box.

  5. If this alias requires multiple units of measure, follow the steps below. If not, go to Step 7.

    1. Click the UOM box and enter the unit of measure for this alias.

    2. Click the Factor box and type M, for multiply, or type D, for divide.

    3. Click the Quantity box and enter the value to be multiplied or divided to obtain the alias's unit of measure. The Factor and Quantity boxes work together to calculate the ratio between the individual unit of measure and the box unit of measure.

Example: This alias is for pencils sold individually (EA). You usually sell pencils by the box of 12 (BX). You must divide your unit of measure by 12 to obtain the individual unit of measure. Specify EA in the UOM box, D in the Factor box, and 12 in the Quantity box.

  1. Click OK to accept the information you entered and return to the Item Alias dialog box.

Note: Click Exit to cancel the information you entered and return to the Item Alias dialog box.

  1. Click graphics\SAVE-SMALL16.gif in the Item Alias dialog box to save the Print alias.

  2. Click graphics\CLOSE16.gif to exit the Item Alias dialog box.
