Image examples used in this document are taken from an emulator (a software program that simulates a device). The emulator images approximate either the view on a tablet or a smart phone; however, there are a variety of screen sizes and resolution for devices, so the appearance may vary somewhat based upon the device being used. Some features may not be compatible with all devices (phone devices often offer device features which may not be available with tablets/pads). For example, a device without a camera won't be able to scan barcodes or take photographs for use as attachments.

Spruce AnyWare is a separately licensed software product. Newer Spruce software contracts typically include one Spruce AnyWare license. Licensing is per device. After purchasing one or more licenses, install the app on as many devices up to the number of licenses purchased. Each device is automatically registered upon sign-on. Upon request, we can remove a previously registered device allowing the addition of another as a replacement. A separate “listener” application must be configured and running on the SQL Server hosting the Spruce data for successful connections.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to fully duplicate all the nuances and features of the Spruce software in the Spruce AnyWare app. In addition to software development reasons, smart phones have different memory, disk space, and performance criteria (as opposed to software developed for PC or server use). Users should expect differences and some limitations in capability.

Furthermore, it’s important to realize that the Spruce AnyWare app was developed using an entirely different programming language than what’s used for development of the Spruce software. These differences can change the precision of certain calculations causing slight differences in rounding numbers as well as other areas. Future coding changes made to the Spruce software that might also apply to Spruce AnyWare applications must be manually and separately coded. Changes to corresponding transactions or features in the Spruce application are not necessarily going to be available in the Spruce AnyWare app immediately or necessarily at all. Users of both products should expect to see some differences and limitations.

Spruce AnyWare can connect to the database hosting your Spruce application data either directly via a wireless connection (WiFi) or remotely using a data plan you purchase separately for your device. Please read the following requirements and support topics for more information.
